INTERNATIONAL ACCLAIM FOR KILT RACE

Perth's World Record Kilt Run has rated a mention in Pennsylvania-based Runner's World magazine. The world record run, set for June 26, will be named the race with the "best swag" in the June 2010 issue of Runner's World. Every runner is receiving a free kilt with registration.

PSYCHIC FAIR SUPPORTS UNITED WAY

WhisperingSouls, in collaboration with Code's on the Park Mill Inn and Spa, is hosting a Psychic weekend on March 19-21 in support of the United Way of Lanark County.

The weekend will feature a 'Dinner with Spirits', Psychic Fair, lectures and classes as well as a séance on Saturday night. The WhisperingSouls Psychic Fair is an annual event, which raises money for a local charity and this year the charity will be the United Way of Lanark County. The event begins on Friday, March 19, with a Dinner with Spirits, catered by Code's Mill. The dinner will feature local medium, Ken Mason, who will discuss mediumship, which is the ability to communicate with spirits or ghosts. After dinner, Mason will invite the group to walk across the street to the old Code's Mill building to experience a Paranormal Investigation. Saturday through Sunday, the Psychic Fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free to the public. The show will feature spiritual healers, Reiki specialists, spiritual vendors as well as psychics and mediums. There will also be classes and lectures throughout both days on a variety of subjects. On Saturday night, Matt Stapely and Tristan Brine will be hosting a séance at 7:30 p.m. for those that might be interested in connecting with lost loved ones, or learning about their personal spirit guides.

SWING INTO SPRING

The Perth Citizens Band will be holding their annual spring concert, "Swing Into Spring," Sunday, March 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Branch 244 Legion hall. Admission is $5 each or $10 per family.

CAR HITS PEDESTRIAN

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on March 4 Perth Police attended a motor vehicle collision at the corner of Drummond and Dufferin Streets. A 23-year-old Perth male was struck as he was crossing the roadway by a 39-year-old Perth male that was making a left hand turn and was temporarily blinded by the sun. The pedestrian incurred minor injuries and was taken to Great War Memorial hospital.

YOUTH ARRESTED

On Tuesday, March 2 Perth Police received a call regarding a youth not abiding by his previous release conditions. Later that evening at approximately 8:25 p.m., the 16-year-old Perth area youth was located. He was arrested without incident for one count of failing to comply with an officer in charge undertaking.

THEFTS REPORTED

Some time on March 7 a GPS unit was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in a laneway on Arthur Street in Perth. Police are investigating.

On March 8 Police were called to a local business where a 22-year-old male was being held for shoplifting merchandise. As a result, the Perth man has been charged with theft and is expected to attend court on April 19 to answer to the charge.

ANNIVERSARY BARBECUE

Perth's M&M Meat shop will be holding a Charity Barbecue Day Saturday, May 8 to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of M&M Meat shops.

FATHEAD AT O'REILLY'S FRIDAY

A "blues tour de force" is coming to O'Reilly's Pub Friday night. The band Fathead is on tap for the evening's entertainment. Georgia-raised lead singer John Mays has had a storied career that began in the Southern gospel tradition, crossing over into doo-wop, R&B and blues, not to mention a stint with the Godfather Of Soul James Brown.

CHAMBER TRADE SHOW MARCH 25

Building Bridges in Business is the theme of the trade show to be held March 25 at Code's Mill Inn in conjunction with the Perth and District Chamber of Commerce's annual general meeting. The show will be open to the general public from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
