Easter Seals campaign launched in Perth March 8
Posted Mar 11, 2010 By EMC NewsEMC News - March is Easter Seals Month, and the Paper Egg Campaign for Easter Seals kids is one way to help Ontario's kids with physical disabilities. Easter Seals Ontario launches its milestone 10th annual Paper Egg Campaign, running March 8 to April 4, at The Bargain! Shop store, located at 80 Dufferin St. in Perth on Monday.
"Families of kids with physical disabilities turn to Easter Seals as a last resort when they have nowhere else to go. Thanks to The Bargain! Shop's support, Easter Seals can help these kids, so they don't have to go without," says Carol Lloyd, President and CEO, Easter Seals Ontario.
During the Easter Seals Paper Egg campaign, shoppers at participating retailers are encouraged to purchase a colourful paper egg to be posted on store walls in support of Easter Seals programs and services.
Despite the struggling economy Canadians dug deep in their pockets and contributed more than $838,000 in 2009, the highest total raised to date during the Easter Seals Paper Egg campaign. Of that amount, The Bargain! Shop raised $221,000, making it the country's top selling Paper Egg sponsor. In total, TB!S has raised more than $445,000 nationally for the campaign since 2007 and plans to raise $232,000 in 2010.
"We're really excited about this year's campaign," says Ted Armstrong, Perth The Bargain! Shop store manager. "The funds we raise stay in the province. We can't thank our customers and associates enough for their participation in store. They enable us to provide support for local kids with disabilities and their families, which is a deeply satisfying and shared accomplishment."
Other participating retailers include Money Mart, which joins the campaign as national sponsor after raising more than $69,000 in Ontario in 2009. Throughout Ontario, other retail stores such as, TSC Stores, IGA, Price Chopper, Sobeys, and Foodland will be supporting the campaign by offering customers the opportunity to purchase a $2 Paper Egg for Easter Seals Kids.
